Thomas Rhett Scores His First Awards Show Performance on ACAs

“So you’re there with more of a purpose than walking the red carpet.”

Yeah, it’s great to win awards at big national televised concerts. But the real prize is the performance slot because that’s where most artists can, well, sell some albums.

If you win a big award, ya might see a small bump in sales, but if you perform? Fuhgetaboutit.

To that end, new country artist Thomas Rhett is already a winner. Yeah, he’s up for new artist at the American Country Awards, airing Tuesday night (Dec. 10) at 8 p.m. ET on FOX.

Bigger deal for Thomas: He's performing on the show.

“This is my first awards show appearance,” he told reporters recently.

“I’ve been to the CMAs and the ACMs a couple of times. Going to the ACAs will be really cool ’cause we get to actually perform this year.”

See? Told ya.

“So you’re there with more of a purpose than walking the red carpet.”

Also performing will be Jake Owen, Lady Antebellum and many more.

Oh, and there is Thomas’ New Artist nomination.

“[It] is a complete honor to be in there with people like Florida Georgia Line and Kip Moore and Cassadee Pope,” he said. “That’s just the coolest thing in the world.”
