Teen With Rare Syndrome Asks Taylor to the Prom

'I saw her live in concert, and I was like, 'Oh my gosh, she's amazing!'" 19-year-old tells local TV station.

Another teen is reaching out through YouTube and the media to ask Taylor Swift to go to prom with him.

Devon Whitney, 19, from Aurora, Colo., has a rare condition known as Oto-Palatal-Digital (OPD) syndrome. He has had more than two dozen surgeries since he was born, and he uses a wheelchair.

Devon posted a video of himself showing a series of handwritten notes that explains his situation and asks Taylor to go to prom.

Devon reveals that other kids sometimes make fun of him because of his appearance, but adds that he has great support from his family. He also says he's afraid to ask a girl to prom.

But he plunged straight ahead with plans to ask Taylor. Why?

"I just think she's the sweetest girl I've ever known. Because I saw her live in concert and I was like, 'Oh my gosh, she's amazing!'" he told a local television station.

No response as of Thursday morning (May 10).

Earlier this year, Taylor asked cancer patient Kevin McGuire to go to the Academy of Country Music Awards with her after he asked her to go to prom. Kevin ended up being too sick to attend the awards show, but Taylor has promised him a date in the future.
