Taylor Swift Tells Ellen: “I Don't Have a Boyfriend”

“I want to be the girl that when she falls in love . . . it’s a rare thing.”

Taylor Swift’s professional life has been going full-throttle over the past year with her Speak Now 2011 World Tour, multiple media appearances and the release of her fragrance, Wonderstruck. But Taylor's love life? Not so much. The singer says there's no boyfriend in the picture right now.

“I don't have one. I keep telling you that,” the 21-year-old singer/songwriter told television host Ellen DeGeneres during an interview on Oct. 19. “I for real don’t have a boyfriend. I sit by myself and I watch Law & Order. I don’t have a boyfriend. I don’t even have ‘like kind’ of a boyfriend. I don’t have someone that I’m texting that is a guy that someday might be my boyfriend. There’s like nothing going on right now.”

Though the country singer has been linked to such top-rung men as Twilight’s Taylor Lautner, actor Jake Gyllenhaal and singer/songwriter Joe Jonas, she says she doesn’t need to have a boyfriend all the time. Taylor continued, “If you’re the girl that needs a boyfriend and once she loses that boyfriend needs to replace it with a different boyfriend . . . it’s just this constant stream of boyfriends all the time. I don’t feel like I ever want to be that girl. I want to be the girl that when she falls in love, it’s a big deal and it’s a rare thing.”
