Taylor Swift Steals the Spotlight in “New Girl” Season Finale

Did you catch Tuesday night's (May 14) season finale of the FOX sitcom New Girl?

Taylor Swift did. “About to watch the New Girl season finale and I totally would be even if I wasn't in this episode,” she tweeted beforehand.

Turns out the episode played out (spoilers below) a lot like her song “Speak Now.”

You see, characters Cece and Shivrang were about to get married but Cece revealed she was in love with Schmidt. And that's when Shivrang said he, too, was in love with someone else, a girl named Elaine—played by pop/country superstar Taylor Swift.

The hilarious dialogue follows.

Shivrang: I have tried to forget you, Elaine, but really, I just can’t. And I don’t care what my family says. I want to marry you—in a Presbyterian church!

Elaine/Taylor: Oh Shivvy. I’ve loved you since the first grade, and I’m so lonely without you. I just lie awake, and I just write in my journal, and I paint pictures of you on my easel.

Shivrang: I want our children to be photographers and backpack across Europe.

Elaine/Taylor:“Will you take me away from this madness? And you are not too short for me, I don’t care what your mother says!

Aww. Don’t you love a happy ending?

The New Girl cast and crew thought it was a happy ending, too. They said before the episode aired that Taylor did a great job.
