Turns out Taylor Swift never actually auditioned for her role in the upcoming Meryl Streep/Jeff Bridges movie, The Giver, which is shooting now in South Africa.

Nope. She says she just did some shows in L.A., and some movie execs happened to catch one of those shows.

“Actually, the movie came about very unexpectedly,” Taylor told ABC News Radio.

“When I played my shows in L.A., I was unaware that people from this movie were in the audience, and I had a role offered to me the next week.”

Dang. Must’ve been a heckuva concert.

“I think my show tends to be very emotional and moody and they saw something that they needed in the role. So, I’m very honored and lucky to get to be a part of it, and we’ll see how it goes,” she said. “Please wish me luck.”

Good luck!
