Taylor Swift: People’s Choice for Country

Did ya catch Taylor Swift on the annual People’s Choice Awards? If you didn’t, you probably weren’t watching for very long because Tay-Tay was all over it.

There were red carpet shots and cutaways of her in the crowd, she presented the favorite movie actor trophy—heck, Taylor even had her own commercial for a makeup foundation.

“We took out a heavy synthetic and put in a light touch of cucumber!” she enthused in the commercial.

Oh yeah, and Taylor took home Favorite Country Artist, beating out Rascal Flatts, Lady Antebellum, Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood for the prize.

And she got the trophy from Elton John, who spoke eloquently about the genre first, saying he grew up listening to country.

“Today, those rebellious melodies and lovelorn songsters still ring loud and clear, proving you don’t need a pickup truck or even an old pair of boots to love country music,” Sir Elton said. “You just have to hear it to love it.”

Taylor—who hugged her brother, Austin, before coming to the stage – congratulated Elton on becoming a dad, adding she was honored to receive an award from him.

Taylor also thanked the fans, calling the award a showing of love.

“I appreciate this love because I love you too,” she said.
