Taylor Scores 1.2 Million in First-Week Sales of “Red”

She becomes the only woman to have two albums sell a million in one week since SoundScan started.

As predicted, Taylor Swift sold more than one million copies of her album Red in its debut week, Billboard reports.

In fact, she sold 1.21 million copies, giving Red the best one-week sales in 10 years. In 2002, Eminen sold 1.32 million copies of The Eminem Show.

Taylor also now has the second-best week of sales for all female artists, just behind Britney Spears' Oops! . . . I Did It Again, which sold 1.31 million copies in its first week back in 2000.

Impressed yet?

Well, how about this: Taylor is the first female artist to have two albums sell 1 million copies since SoundScan started tracking sales in 1991. Her first, Speak Now, sold 1.05 million copies in its debut week in 2010.
