Taylor Forgives Kanye in Song

The stage was set for some high drama last night (Sept. 12) at the MTV Video Music Awards, as both Taylor Swift and Kanye West were scheduled for performances.

‘Twas only a year ago that Kanye interrupted Taylor’s acceptance speech to declare that Beyoncé should’ve won.

But there was no conflict last night, just musical apology (sort of) and forgiveness.

Taylor sang a sang called “Innocent”: Everyone of us has messed up, too . . . I hope you remember today is never too late to be brand-new.

Oh, and in case you don’t think it’s about Kanye, Taylor included this line: Thirty-two and still growing up now / Who you are is not what you did . . . You’re still an innocent.

For his part, Kanye mostly derided himself in his rap: I always find something wrong / You’ve been putting up with my [expletive] for too long . . . Let’s have a toast to scumbags.

Reactions poured in via Twitter, MTV News reports, with nearly 6,000 tweets per minute to both Taylor and Kanye.
