Taylor and Taylor Show a Hit for All Generations

In all, the country star sings three songs with pop legend James Taylor, including two of her own.

The idea was hatched last year when James Taylor was the special guest for Taylor Swift's tour-ending show at Madison Square Garden in New York. The pop singer/songwriter asked country Taylor if she would return the favor by performing at one of his shows.

That idea came to fruition Monday night (July 2) during a J.T. amphitheater show in Massachusetts.

Maybe for the first time ever, young girls were carrying homemade signs at a James Taylor show—but those signs lauded the other Taylor.

Taylor came out at the end of James' first set to perform James' 1970 hit "Fire and Rain" with him, according to local newspapers.

"They have a nice sound together that you wouldn't expect," said concertgoer Ana Larkin of Pittsfield, Mass.

The country singer came back out during the second set to perform two of her hits, "Ours" and "Love Story"—and the crowd went wild.

Fourteen-year-old Kira Wirsig told reporters that she and her friends have been all about Taylor Swift for the last two years.

What about James Taylor?

"I've really only heard two of his songs, but our parents really like him," Kira said with a shrug.
