TANYA TUCKER’S FATHER DIES

Tanya Tucker’s father Beau Tucker, who was the guiding force behind Tanya’s career, died Thursday, Nov. 23, near Nashville after a battle with lung cancer. He was 79.

When Tanya was a youngster in Phoenix, Beau booked her into halls and other venues, opening for nationally known acts. After moving to the Las Vegas area to further Tanya’s career, Beau made contact with top Nashville record producer Billy Sherrill, who headed the Nashville office of Columbia and Epic Records. At age 13, Tanya landed her first Columbia hit on the country charts, “Delta Dawn,” which reached Top 10. Beau Tucker also served as Tanya’s manager for a time.
