Sunday Night Football Loses the Faith

Show of hands: during football season, how many of you wait all day for Sunday night? Lots of us, for sure, and Faith Hill has been there on NBC to perform the Sunday Night Football opening song and reaffirm our gridiron anticipation.

But no longer. Faith is giving up the high-profile weekly slot she’s held since 2007 to let someone else have a turn. “Amazing 2 have been part of SNF - an honor,” she posted on Facebook earlier today. “I’ve just let everyone there know it’s time 2 let someone else rock the open. Difficult decision. Kinda emotional. Love all u guys at SNF - I’ll b watching!!!”

SNF Executive Producer Fred Gaudelli wished Faith well.

The Sunday Night Football Theme (video below), set to the tune of Joan Jett's hit “I Hate Myself for Loving You,” was reworked every week with new team names based on who was featured in the SNF game. No word on who will take Faith's place.

In other Faith news, she recently performed alongside her husband at ACM Presents: Tim McGraw's Superstar Night, which also featured Jason Aldean, John Fogerty, Luke Bryan, Taylor Swift, Keith Urban and others. The special will air on CBS Sunday, May 19 ,at 9 p.m. ET.
