SUGARLAND SHOCKER: KRISTEN HALL LEAVES

Kristen Hall, one of the founders of the hot trio Sugarland, has decided to leave the group, according to remaining members Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush.

A message had been posted on the the band's website, reporting that, "Kristen has decided to stay home and write songs, and we support her in that decision." There was no further explanation of her departure from the trio, which sold two million copies of its debut CD Twice the Speed of Life and won Favorite New Artist at the American Music Awards. Questions had been in the air about the group's status when Kristen did not appear at the American Music Awards in November or a recent Tonight Show with Jay Leno performance. There has been no announcement on whether the three will continue to write together, or whether Jennifer and Kristian will perform as a duo with a backing band.
