Steel Magnolia’s Meghan Linsey: Never Say Never

Could a recording reunion happen?

Fans who were heartbroken when Steel Magnolia not only disbanded but also suffered a personal breakup can take heart. The duo’s Meghan Linsey isn’t saying she’ll never record with partner and former fiancé Joshua Scott Jones again.

“I’m not saying we’ll never make another record because you never know,” the petite blonde tells Country Weekly. “We were together personally for a long time, almost six years, and we did break up. We basically took some time to ourselves, reconvened, decided we could tour together, decided to go ahead and book the dates, and then in the meantime, we started working on our solo projects.”

The breakup was healthy and had little to do with their choosing to continue solo, which is how they began their musical careers before landing on CMT’s Can You Duet.

Meghan says, “I see it as a positive thing. I’m really grateful for the experience and to have had the success that we had, but he was doing a solo thing before, too. And I think we both had that in the back of our minds that we would do solo projects.”

No announcements have been made regarding new music yet, although Meghan performed songs from her upcoming project recently at a Nashville showcase. She also recently lent her signature bluesy vocal to the new single, “Baby Get Out,” from Cody Belew (season three finalist from The Voice)
