The three-disc set captures the spirit of America and recounts the country's history through 38 songs, written by some of Music Row's top composers, and 26 spoken narratives. The songs detail a variety of significant American events, including the arrival of the Mayflower and the Civil War. At the kickoff event at Nashville’s Ocean Way Recording Studio, Jan. 12, Billy Dean, one of the project's performers, told members of the media that his participation renewed his interest in American history. "I finally read the entire Declaration of Independence," Billy explained. "I realized that in my 46 years, I had never read it all the way through. I think when fans listen to this album, they will get a better appreciation of the country. It definitely had a profound effect on me. It got me back watching the History Channel again!" Billy added with a laugh. This Is My America is currently available at thisismyamerica.com.
