Stars Come Out for ACM Honors

Merle Haggard, Dolly Parton, Randy Travis, Hank Williams Jr. and Kenny Rogers were among the legends saluted at the Academy of Country Music’s second annual ACM Honors ceremony, held Sept. 22 at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center in Nashville.

Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton, Vince Gill, host Lee Ann Womack and many other stars were on hand to salute their heroes in song. Among the beloved figures honored were the late Jerry Reed and Harlan Howard. “It’s a lump in the throat to be here this evening,” Merle told the audience while accepting the Poet’s Award. “It’s wonderful to go in with Harlan Howard. I idolize him.”
