For a struggling songwriter in Nashville (or even one who's had some success), getting a song on a Garth Brooks album has got to be the ultimate coup. After all, the guy has sold more than a whopping 100 million albums.

The writers of some of the Garthman's greatest hits have recorded their original tunes on a tribute album to the singer, In The Beginning - A Songwriter s Tribute To Garth Brooks, which is scheduled for an April 10 release.

Featured writers include Pat Alger ("The Thunder Rolls"), Tony Arata ("The Dance"), Larry Bastian ("Unanswered Prayers"), Dewayne Blackwell ("Friends in Low Places"), Kent Blazy ("If Tomorrow Never Comes"), Stephanie Davis ("We Shall Be Free"), Victoria Shaw ("The River") and Kim Williams ("Ain't Going Down 'Til The Sun Come Up").

In the liner notes of the album, Brooks mused, "They should have called it The Way It Should Have Been Done.

"They all saw my life before this and they've all seen it afterwards. I hope they see what a difference they've made in my life, in the lives of my family and the people that I love."
