Songwriters Guild Hosts PR Workshop

Performing songwriters can learn how to publicize and promote their musical careers by taking a new workshop in Nashville, July 12 and 19, offered through the Songwriters Guild Foundation, the education arm of the Songwriters Guild of America.

Publicizing Your Dream: The Nuts & Bolts of Writing, Editing and Media Exposure will be taught by veteran publicist, author, educator and composer Chuck Whiting. The workshop will run from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. July 12 and 19 (consecutive Thursdays), in the SGA Nashville office, Suite 321, Cummins Station, 209 10th Ave. S. Whiting will show performing songwriters and others how to write and edit a press release in Associated Press style, make a professional pitch to the news media, and prepare for print, radio and TV interviews. For more information, contact Kimberly Maiers Shaw at the Songwriters Guild, (615) 742-9945 or nash@songwritersguild.com.
