Six-Year-Old Girl Launches Successful Campaign to Have Miranda Lambert Visit Dog Shelter

Miranda visits Big Dog Ranch Rescue, meets lil’ Riley Weinberger and even takes home a pooch.

Six-year-old Riley Weinberger really, really wanted Miranda Lambert to visit Riley's favorite dog rescue shelter in Florida while Miranda was in town to play a show.

So Riley (and her adult helpers) posted a moving video invitation on YouTube. Riley also did radio interviews and a TV interview. And Riley's adult helpers posted billboards all around town inviting Miranda to the Big Dog Ranch Rescue in Wellington, Fla.

And it all worked—Miranda visited the shelter Saturday (Sept. 21) before her show, and she even picked out a dog to take home.

"Amazing place & great people helping so many dogs in need!," Miranda posted on Twitter afterward, along with a pic of her and the pooch, named Bellamy after Florida country duo the Bellamy Brothers.
