Shania Twain is returning to the spotlight in a big way. The Canadian superstar will start a two-year run at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas on Dec. 1, 2012, she announced at a Nashville press conference today (June 8). The show will be dubbed “Shania: Still the One.” A pre-sale of tickets for American Express customers starts tonight during the CMT Music Awards and the public on-sale date is Sunday (June 12) at 10 a.m. PT.

Shania’s autobiography, From This Moment On, was released in May, and her television show, Why Not? With Shania Twain, scored record ratings on Oprah Winfrey’s OWN cable channel.

She will release her new single, “Today Is Your Day,” on June 12. “It was the first song I wrote without [former producer and ex-husband] Mutt [Lange], which was scary for me,” admits Shania.

Though the annoucement was made today, Shania says she has already been thinking about the concerts. “There are no limitations to the creativity with this,” says Shania of planning the Las Vegas shows. “My music is always evolving. This show will evolve as well. You won't see the same show in two years.”

Another Canadian singer, Celine Dion, has had success with a string of shows in Las Vegas. “I’m sure I will call Celine soon to ask advice,” Shania said, noting that the last time she spoke to Canadian pop singer was soon after their babies were born. “[Our babies] were born around the same time, so we talked about the usual [topics related to raising babies].” Having a two-year run in one venue allows Shania to spend more time with her husband, Fred, and son, Eja. “I will have them with me all the time," says Shania. “It’s easier. I did take Eja on tour when he was younger. If I was on tour, it would be very difficult to have them with me.”

Shania says that she will soon begin work on a new album, but she'll record at her own pace. “I will begin this summer and I'm not putting any pressure [on myself]. There is no schedule. It might be ready by the time the [Las Vegas] shows begin, or it might not.”

The dates at the Colosseum at Caesar's Palace coincide with major expansions at Caesar's Palace, including the completion of a new tower and the addition of two new restaurants.
