Shania Breaks the Silence

Shania Twain has issued a message to fans apologizing for making them wait so long for new music from her.

In a letter on her official website, the singer explains that since her split last year from longtime husband and musical collaborator Robert John “Mutt” Lange, she has been “inspired by my pain to write and use writing as a therapy through the suffering.” She adds, however, that there is “no telling” how long it will take her to finish a new album. “I don’t want to just throw anything at you, just for the sake of hurrying up to get it out,” she writes. “I want my new music to be something I’m personally satisfied with and proud to share with you.” Her last full album of new material was 2004’s Up! Elsewhere in the lengthy message Shania assures fans that she and 7-year-old son Eja are doing well and thanks them for their support. You can find the full text at shaniatwain.com.
