Scotty McCreery Says He’s Going to College in the Fall

American Idol winner only has one more semester left until he has his high school diploma.

Yes, American Idol winner Scotty McCreery is doing well at country radio, and yes, he scored an opening spot on superstar Brad Paisley's tour this year.

But the teenager tells The Tennessean that he knows anything can happen in the music business—so he's making plans to go to college in the fall.

Scotty's high school teachers are working with him to get his work in and his tests done this semester, his final one before getting his diploma.

But he knows that college professors might not be as cooperative, Scotty tells the newspaper.

“That’s going to be a whole another monster,” he says. “But we’re going to figure out a way to do it. It might take me 50 years to get a degree, but I want to get there and go to college.”
