Scotty McCreery Records Tim McGraw Tune for American Idol

Scotty's rendition of Tim's "Please Remember Me" will air during elimination rounds.

Scotty McCreery has recorded Tim McGraw's 1999 No. 1 hit "Please Remember Me" as a farewell song for season 11 of American Idol.

Scotty's rendition of the song will be played on Thursday's (March 8) results show. Idol's Top 13 finalists will compete, with one of them being eliminated. “When you are eliminated, whether it’s early on or down the road in the competition, you always want people to remember you," Scotty says via a release. "You want to get to work and put out some good music, and through that music, people will remember you. This is one way this lyric can be interpreted for this goodbye song."

Scotty's rendition of the tune is fitting, given that Scotty performed with Tim the evening Scotty was named the winner of season 10. The pair performed Tim's 2004 smash hit "Live Like You Were Dying" shortly before Scotty was crowned the winner.
