Scotty McCreery Is Heading to College in the Fall

American Idol graduates high school in June, tours with Brad Paisley before NCSU classes start.

Gotta wonder: Will he put his brand-new Academy of Country Music New Artist trophy in his dorm room?

Scotty McCreery might be country music's first major-label full-time college student. According to newsobserver.com, the 18-year-old American Idol winner told CMT Radio that he is heading to his dad's alma mater—North Carolina State University in Raleigh—in the fall.

"I have decided to head down to Raleigh where my dad went to college at North Carolina State for at least for two years and maybe transfer to Nashville then," he said. "I’m excited.”

Also exciting: Scotty got into all four schools to which he applied, two in Nashvillle (including Brad Paisley's alma mater, Belmont University), and East Carolina and NCSU.

No word on whether Scotty will pitch for the Wolfpack baseball team like he has for his high school baseball team. Scotty graduates in June, then heads back out on the road with Brad before he starts college.
