OKLAHOMA HALL CALLS TOBY

Toby Keith was officially welcomed into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame this past Thursday, Oct. 27, and was honored to be inducted by former Oklahoma University football coach, Barry Switzer. The coach called Toby "The John Wayne of country music," referring to the patriotic themes that often crop up in Toby's music. Toby, who performed an acoustic set of some of his biggest hits during the ceremony, attributed much of his success to listening to musical heroes like Bob Wills and Merle Haggard. The same evening, fellow Oklahoman and American Idol champ Carrie Underwood received the hall's Rising Star award.
