MARTINA AT THE TOP

Martina McBride titled her new CD of country standards Timeless, and it looks like her timing was perfect. While rehearsing for the TV taping of I Walk the Line: A Night for Johnny Cash, Martina found out that Timeless raced to the top of the Billboard country albums chart, with more than 185,000 copies sold. It marks the highest album debut of Martina's career. Plus, the album placed third on the Billboard 200 chart, which lists all genres of music, right behind Ashlee Simpson and Rod Stewart. "What is exciting to me is that there are many, many people this week who are hearing these great classic country songs," said Martina. "Hopefully, the respect and love I have for this music will shine through." Timeless features Martina's renditions of such legendary songs as Lynn Anderson's "(I Never Promised You a) Rose Garden" and the Connie Smith classic, "Once a Day."
