MARTINA GETS LYNN'S STAMP OF APPROVAL

Martina McBride's upcoming new album, Timeless, is full of the country classics she grew up singing in her family's band The Schiffters. The CD's first single is the 1970 Lynn Anderson signature song, "Rose Garden." Admittedly, when she recorded those classics, Martina was cautiously true to the original versions. "It's funny," Martina told X Radio, "I talked to Lynn, she said, 'I was a little worried when I heard you were recording "Rose Garden" 'cause that's my baby, you know.' But she said, 'You did it with so much respect to the original.' It made her feel really comfortable about it and that made me feel good because that's definitely what I was goin' for—was to pay respect to these songs, not to try to take them away and make them my own thing, you know. I wasn't interested in that." Look for Timeless in stores October 18.
