Our deepest sympathies go out to Sammy Kershaw following the passing of his brother, Minos Cashat Jr., at a hospital in Lafayette, La. He was 54.

“My younger brother Minos passed away late this afternoon,” Sammy posted on his Facebook page, Friday (Sept. 27). “The world lost a good hearted guy today but Heaven gained an awesome soul.”

Minos was laid to rest Monday, Sept. 30, in Kaplan, La.

Sammy has endured his share of hardships in 2013. In April, his Louisiana home caught fire, then in May he suffered an injury that forced the cancellation of his June 1 show at Billy Bob’s Texas.
