Rodney Celebrates Latest No. 1

Rodney Atkins celebrated the success of his latest No. 1 single, “These Are My People,” at an industry party at Nashville’s ASCAP building, Oct. 24.

Before the event, Rodney and one of the song’s writers, Dave Berg, met with members of the Nashville media to talk about the tune, Rodney’s third straight chart-topper. “When I first heard this song, I said to myself, ‘This is exactly how I grew up.’ It’s something I could relate to,” Rodney explained. Rodney also discussed his current hit, “Cleaning This Gun (Come On in Boy),” a humorous look at an overprotective dad. “I have two stepdaughters at home, Morgan and Lindsey, and I am now dealing with teenage boys coming around the house,” Rodney noted. “So, I guess that song is perfect for my twisted sense of humor.”
