River County Member Assists in Emergency

Chris Presley of the band River County put his EMT and firefighter background to good use as he assisted in a medical emergency aboard a recent Southwest Airlines flight.

Chris lent a hand to help an 80-year-old woman who became ill during a flight from Las Vegas to Indianapolis. The woman's blood pressure rose to severe levels and Chris used the limited onboard medical supplies to gauge her heart rate and blood pressure. Once the woman's condiiton was stabilized, Chris stayed by her side throughout the remainder of the flight. "I just did what I was trained to do," said Chris afterward. Once the plane arrived safely at the Indianapolis International Airport, the Wayne Township Fire Department stepped in to relieve Chris and thank him for his efforts.
