Rhett Akins will kick off the 2009 turkey hunting season by hosting his 8th Annual Country Goes Huntin’ event , March 29 through 31, in Blakely, Ga.

The event features a turkey hunt with top hunting professionals and an all-star country music concert. This year’s “Bringin’ It Back to the Camp” theme will give fans a more intimate setting than past years by holding the concert in an acoustic setting at camp instead of at the Civic Center in Dothan, Ala. Artists scheduled to appear at this year's event include Aaron Tippin, Lorrie Morgan, Daryle Singletary and many others. Country Goes Huntin’ was started by Rhett and co-founder Sam Klement eight years ago to invite top hunting pros and country singers to the area to raise money for people less fortunate. “I think this is going to be our coolest concert yet,” says Rhett. “The artists will get to hunt longer and don’t have to drive 30 minutes to perform. This way, they can just walk out of the woods and grab a guitar. You’re actually coming to camp and will be seeing them in their elements.” For more information on the event or to bid on auction items, visit countrygoeshuntin.com.
