Reba McEntire's 84-year old father, Clark, is recovering from the stroke that he suffered a few weeks ago, according to his daughter and Reba's younger sister, Susie McEntire-Eaton.

"Our prayers are really being answered," she tells Taste of Country. "Daddy is holding his own right now. He is resting and doesn't seem to hurt. We are giving him lots of updates about what is going on with each of us and loading him up with lots of hugs and kisses."

Reportedly, Clark can sit up in his bed now, which he was unable to do even days ago. In addition, there is no paralysis.

"He's got a lot of medical problems, diabetes and things like that, but his kidneys are looking good, his liver is looking good and he's smiling at us," Susie says. "We're very grateful for that."

As previously reported, Reba has thanked fans who have been praying for and sending well wishes to her father. “Please tell them how much I appreciate that and Mama does, too,” she said. "We couldn't get by without them."
