Reba McEntire's father, Clark, is in a Tulsa, Okla., hospital after suffering a stroke. No further details are currently available.

Reba, who was announced this morning (March 1) as an inductee into the Country Music Hall of Fame, did not attend the event and is at her father's side.

She told The Tennessean that the induction was not only her dream but her father’s as well and that she feels lucky she was able to give him the news two days before he slipped into a coma. “I asked Momma if she thought it registered, if she thought he understood it,” an emotional Reba told the paper. “She said, ‘Yeah, I do.’ It was very important for Daddy, like the first time I ever performed at the Grand Ole Opry, and this was another milestone he was waiting on, so I’m so glad I got to tell him before it was too late."

Reba posted an audio message to her fans on her blog, which you can listen to here.

Mr. McEntire is a three-time world steer roping champion (1957, 1958 and 1961). He was inducted into the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame in 1979.
