If ya walk around downtown Nashville, you probably won't get more than a couple of blocks before you see a 4-foot-high picture of Heidi Newfield ("Johnny and June") at an intersection. The city's Convention & Visitors Bureau loves Heidi and uses her likeness to cover music boxes around town.

And Heidi will be singing at Nashville's annual outdoor New Year's Eve bash this year. Soon after that, fans will hear her first radio single in some time. "This new album we’re just wrapping up, it's very diverse. It's got some stuff that's stone country, and that's my roots," she tells Country Weekly.

Then again, Heidi adds, "There's some Southern rock and we’ll share the more [Janis] Joplin side of my raspy voice, which is really gonna be fun to translate live."
