Rascal Flatts Tops Country Albums Chart

Only a new album from Nicki Minaj—and an old one from Adele—outsell Rascal Flatts’ Changed.

Forget any painful record label changes or awards show snubs—Rascal Flatts can still sell some country albums.

The guys sold 130,000 of new album Changed in its first week, good enough to top the country album sales chart.

And Changed landed at No. 3 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart, behind first-week sales of pop singer Nicki Minaj's album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, which sold 375,000 copies, and British pop singer Adele's not-new album, 21, which sold another 153,000 copies.

You might remember that last week, Lionel Richie's country album, Tuskegee, debuted the same week as Madonna's new release, MDNA. Madonna handily won the Battle of the Eighties Stars that week.

But Lionel had more staying power—in week two, Madonna's sales plummeted more than 80 percent, and Lionel outsold her, 95,000 to 48,000. That's good enough for Lionel to land at No. 2 on the country album charts this week, No. 4 on the all-genre chart.
