Rascal Flatts Teaming With Journey?

The country trio to join rockers for CMT Crossroads in 2012.

Rascal Flatts just might be adding another collaborative effort to its list of musical pairings. The trio, which performed duets with Justin Bieber, Lionel Richie, Michael Bolton and Natasha Bedingfield in the past several months, could be paired with 1980s rock band Journey as part of an upcoming CMT Crossroads in February, according to an interview with ABS-CBN morning show Kris TV.

Journey's lead singer, Arnel Pineda, a Filipino singer who joined the band in 2007, spoke about the band's plans for 2012. "The next tour will happen next year. We will have a two-show Crossroad thing with Rascal Flatts," says Arnel. "It will happen on the third week of February in Nashville. They will sing a couple of Journey songs, then we will sing their songs."

If anyone can take on the high-pitched melody of Journey's 1982 hit "Open Arms," it's Rascal Flatts singer Gary LeVox, and we're sure Arnel could give the Flatts' 2005 No. 1 smash "Bless the Broken Road" a rock makeover.
