Pop singer Gavin DeGraw (“I Don’t Want to Be”) was attacked by “marauding goons” and then hit by a taxi in New York City early Monday, media reports say.

The attack sparked a sympathetic message from Jay DeMarcus of Rascal Flatts, who tweeted, “Thoughts and prayers go out to our brotha.”

Gavin remained hospitalized this morning (Aug. 9) in New York. Reports say he suffered a broken nose and bruises and scratches. Gavin’s rep said only that he was assaulted and taken to an emergency room by ambulance.
