Rascal Flatts, the Secret to Blake Shelton’s Success?

The boys of Rascal Flatts paid a visit to E!’s Chelsea Lately last night (Nov. 19), and got the usual irreverent treatment from bawdy host Chelsea Handler.

While promoting their new DVD release, All Access & Uncovered, the guys discussed watching Blake Shelton’s star rise from opening performer on one of their tours to his current larger-than-life position. Gary LeVox jokingly took credit for “every ounce” of Blake’s success, and Jay DeMarcus claimed the band got the singer to shed his dated mullet hairstyle.

“It was like Billy Ray Shelton for a long time,” quipped Gary.

Chelsea acknowledged Blake’s party-friendly reputation and wondered if the Flatts guys were also responsible for that.

Joe Don Rooney rushed to Blake’s defense. “He’s from Oklahoma, he’s like me," he said. "He likes to have a good time!”

Among other topics the foursome covered were Joe Don’s hair (“I’m a natural blonde,” he claimed), the calming influence of fatherhood, and—much to Chelsea's dismay—Gary’s preference for hunting white-tailed deer on his Tennessee ranch.
