Rascal Flatts Makes Change for a Buckeye

When in Rome, do as the Romans do. And when in Ohio, become an Ohioan! And that's exactly what Rascal Flatts' Joe Don Rooney did when the trio performed in Columbus on Saturday (Feb. 9).

Joe Don, who was born in Kansas and raised in Oklahoma, is surrounded by Ohio natives Jay DeMarcus and Gary LeVox. The guys didn't want Joe Don to feel left out in their hometown, so he was welcomed by Ohio first lady Karen Kasich and presented with an honorary Ohioan proclamation, along with Ohio's signature chocolate yumminess, the buckeye.

The boys have been playing to packed houses as part of the tour, including Friday's show at University of Kentucky's Rupp Arena. But prior to the show, they were all dreaming about their hometown's Donato's pizza. Fortunately, as Jay pointed out, Lexington also has Donato's. No word on if he shared with opening acts Kristen Kelly and The Band Perry.

The Farmers Insurance Presents Changed Tour is in full swing with shows this week in South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia.
