RASCAL FLATTS ALBUM SETS THE MARK

Rascal Flatts will end the year with the best-selling artist album, becoming the first country act in 14 years to accomplish that feat.

The group’s Me and My Gang CD sold more than 3 million copies, and held the No. 1 spot on the SoundScan Top 200 for three consecutive weeks, more than any artist in any genre of music this year. The only album with higher sales totals for 2006 is the soundtrack CD to Disney’s High School Musical, which features multiple artists. In 1992, Billy Ray Cyrus finished the year with the top-selling album, Some Gave All, the last country act to do so.
