Randy Travis Arrested on DWI Charge

Second arrest this year

Randy Travis was arrested Tuesday night (Aug. 7) in Texas on a DWI suspicion after wrecking his vehicle. According to several reports, Randy was arrested shortly before midnight (CT) with minor cuts and bruises. He was also booked on charges of "retaliation and obstruction." Randy's car was the only vehicle involved in the crash. Officials in Texas also reported that Randy was found naked in the car and was combative at the scene of the accident. According to a spokesperson for the Texas Department of Safety, Randy made threats against Texas Highway Patrol troopers and was not wearing clothes at the time of the arrest. He also refused to take a sobriety test so a blood specimen was taken. Randy was released on bond pending an appearance before a judge in Sherman, Texas, about 50 miles from Dallas. Neither Randy nor his publicist have commented on the incident thus far. An e-mail to his publicist from CountryWeekly.com was not immediately returned.

This marks Randy's second arrest this year, following an incident in February when he was charged with public intoxication. He later apologized to his fans and said that he was committed to "being responsible and accountable."
