Pistol Annies' Ashley Monroe Sets Solo Release

Ashley Monroe has been setting off sparks as one-third of vocal group Pistol Annies with Miranda Lambert and Angaleena Presley. But Ashley is also a highly acclaimed singer and songwriter in her own right and she gets the chance to show off those skills when her solo album, Like a Rose, is released Jan. 22. Like a Rose was produced by Vince Gill, who took an old-school approach to the album—no gimmicks or studio tricks. "Everyone put everything they had into the songs," Ashley said in a statement about the project.

Those songs include "You Got Me," written by Ashley and Little Big Town's Karen Fairchild, and the lighthearted "You Ain't Dolly (and You Ain't Porter)." Special guest Blake Shelton provides backing vocals on the latter tune. Ashley previously released a solo album titled Satisfied.
