Peach Pickers Reveal Plans for Annual Georgia on My Mind Benefit Concert
The Georgia-bred hit songwriters will raise money for their home state.
The Peach Pickers (hit songwriters Ben Hayslip, Dallas Davidson and Rhett Akins) have revealed the date for their annual concert celebrating Georgia music while raising money for a worthy cause. Returning to the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashvile on May 10, Jameson’s Irish Whiskey Presents the 3rd Annual Georgia On My Mind concert will include a special tribute to Otis Redding.
Like years past, money raised through ticket sales will benefit the nonprofit Georgia Music Foundation, an organization near and dear to all three of the songwriters, who are natives of the state. With proceeds from the 2015 concert, the Georgia Music Foundation established a new Music Preservation, Education and Outreach Grant Program. Then in December, the foundation presented 12 Georgia schools and organizations with checks for $5,000 to support projects taking place in 2016.
“We are looking forward to another great year at the Ryman,” Dallas tells Nash Country Weekly. “We can’t wait for everyone to come. I know there’s already a buzz about it, and we’re excited. We are behind the scenes getting ready for it, and it should be another great show this year.”
“It’s always an honor to do anything that benefits our home state,” adds Ben Hayslip. “It just gets bigger and better every year. It’s one of the best concerts going, not because of us, but because it’s a night that you get to go out and support a great cause. It’s also a night you get to go out and see several huge country music stars in one building on the same night. You get to see them interact with each other and see that these guys are actually friends. They’re not just competitors on the country music scene, they’re buddies backstage and they’re buddies onstage. It’s just a great night of country music.”
The lineup for this year’s event is expected to be announced in early spring. Previous special guests have included Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Cole Swindell, Craig Campbell, Thomas Rhett, Daryle Singletary and Lauren Alaina, as well as non-Georgia natives such as Randy Houser, Lee Brice, Tyler Farr and Maggie Rose. Tickets for this year’s show are on sale now.
