The afternoon kicked off with a party at Nashville’s ASCAP offices, where co-writer Trent Willmon was honored. “This song has had such an impact on me,” Trent told the assembled crowd. “To be a part of this is really special.” The second celebration at BMI honored co-writers Gary Hannan and Phil O’Donnell. Before the event, Eddie Montgomery told members of the Nashville media that, “I knew this was a hit the first time I heard it.”
