NOTHING GETS BY JO DEE

On her last tour with Rascal Flatts as the opening act, Jo Dee Messina had a hunch that the guys would pull a practical joke on her during the last night of their performance.

She was right -- but she was prepared. When it was time for Jo Dee to perform, Jay DeMarcus, Joe Don Rooney and Gary LeVox pranced onto the stage wearing her dancers' costumes. Jo Dee already had a backup plan -- she gave the signal to the four security guards standing by and they fake arrested the guys and handcuffed them to the stage.

Jo Dee then invited fans in the audience to come up and give them hugs and spray them with shaving cream. That should teach them not to mess with her.

Jo Dee's next tour is with George Strait, and begins on September 12 in Detroit.

As for her 4th of July plans, Jo Dee emphasizes the need for appreciating the things we have. "We live in a country where we have a lot of rights that we need to be grateful for," she says. "We have a choice and we can vote for things like laws and leaders. We're pretty darn lucky, and I think that a lot of times that's taken for granted."
