Nominees for the 2013 Americana Music Association Honors & Awards were announced yesterday (May 14) at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles. The annual awards event, scheduled for Sept. 18 in Nashville, honors the year's best in roots music.

Folk-rock duo Shovels & Rope led the nominations (full list below) with four, followed by Emmylou Harris and Buddy Miller, each earning three. Other Americana favorites, inlcuding Rodney Crowell, Jim Lauderdale, The Lumineers and Dwight Yoakam, all earned nominations. Dwight was nominated for Artist of the Year, along with Buddy, Emmylou and British folkie Richard Thompson.

At the announcement ceremony, good friends Buddy and Jim (recently featured in CW's "On the Edge" series) saluted the great George Jones, followed by music from LIsa Marie Presley with T Bone Burnett, Elizabeth Cook and the Milk Carton Kids.
