Nicole Kidman Keeps Secret From Keith Urban

Nicole didn't spill the beans about Keith's Opry invitation—and the singer says he's glad.

Keith Urban really was shocked Tuesday night (April 10) when Vince Gill asked Keith to join the Grand Ole Opry at the duo's We're All for the Hall benefit show in Nashville.

And Keith was shocked again when he found out later that night that his Oscar-winner wife, Nicole Kidman, was in on it.

“You know it’s funny, 'cause my wife and I have a very strict rule that we don’t keep secrets and we’re not into surprises," Keith told several reporters Thursday (April 12), in a session covered by thecountryvibe.com.

"And so we’ve never surprised each other with anything or kept any secret about anything and this is the rare exception," he said.

"And when I got home she said, ‘Do you wish I’d have told you?’ And I said, 'No.'

"On one hand, yeah, in the sense that I might have felt a little bit more prepared, but no in the sense of genuine shock. So, [I was] grateful that she didn’t.”

Nicole was told her hubby would be inducted April 21, so to save the date, she wrote "Monica's birthday" on their calendar for that night. Yes, they have a friend named Monica, Keith said, laughing, "but evidently it’s not her birthday.”
