New Thursday Opry Shows

The Grand Ole Opry will add a fourth show to its weekly schedule in 2009, spotlighting classic country songs on Thursday nights.

The new program, called Opry Country Classics, highlights the standards of country music, performed by the artists who made them famous as well as established stars and new artists. “We are pleased to introduce this new show that celebrates country music’s incredible legacy by showcasing its most familiar and beloved songs,” said Steve Buchanan, president of the Grand Ole Opry Group. Opry member Marty Stuart added, “I’m looking forward to performing some of those same great timeless songs for country fans on Thursdays next year.”
