On Nashville, actress Hayden Panettiere is a rising country star, and in real life, Hayden has scored herself another high-profile TV appearance in the country music world.

She'll co-host the annual CMT Artists of the Year special with Rascal Flatts. The special debuts Dec. 8, but this year CMT is keeping the names of the artists being honored a secret.

You might recall that Hayden and Nashville co-star Connie Britton do all of their own singing. And it looks like Hayden, who plays young spitfire Juliette Barnes on the show, may want her own country career. The actress recently sent the song "Telescope"—which she performed in an episode of Nashville— to country radio.

Hayden told US Weekly magazine that she hopes to have a full country album behind that.

"I recorded an album when I was younger, and I always said that if I was going to go back to music, I would do country," Hayden said. "I'm keeping my fingers crossed."
