Mutual Admiration: Taylor and Rascal Flatts

Taylor covers Rascal Flatts’ “What Hurts the Most” in Joe Don Rooney’s home state.

You know that Taylor Swift has been doing some cover tunes on her tour, and she tends to taylor—uh, tailor them to the town she's playing.

On Friday night (Oct. 14), Taylor, in Lubbock, Texas, covered "Wide Open Spaces" from the Dixie Chicks, who are from Texas.

The next night, in Oklahoma, Taylor sang "What Hurts the Most" from Rascal Flatts.

Taylor told the crowd, "There’s this guy named Joe Don Rooney who’s a good friend of mine and he’s from Oklahoma and Rascal Flatts have been amazing and wonderful to me.”

A fan posted the video on YouTube. You can hear the crowd singing along LOUDLY!

Flatts' Jay DeMarcus loved it.

"Big thanks to Taylor Swift for covering What hurts the most last night," he tweeted. "Great job!!"
