MODERN-DAY SONGWRITING

Miranda Lambert's new single, "Bring Me Down," was co-written with her one-time fellow "Nashville Star" contestant Travis Howard. But it wasn't written in the typical "songwriting session" way. "I got this chorus in my head," explained Miranda, "and I called Travis and said, 'Listen to this' and sang it for him over the phone. I was just kind of stuck, going, 'What's wrong with this character?' He called me back about two hours later and said, 'What about these words?' It was kind of a long-distance co-writing session. We didn't even sit in the same room at any point in time." Watch Miranda sing "Bring Me Down" on NBC's Tonight Show with Jay Leno on April 6th.
